Why This Reference Exists
Georgia opens most public records to anyone. That access comes with a catch. A record changes hands as an event unfolds. An arrest happens first, and the Chatham County Sheriff's Office then creates the intake record and booking photo. The arresting agency keeps the incident report. Courts take over later case material, while the Georgia Department of Corrections tracks people sent to state prison.
Each system answers a different question. This reference puts the official links, search steps, and request paths in one place. Readers can start with the right custodian from the first click. Key entry points include the CCSO booking feed, the county request portal, and GDC's offender locator. The site stores none of these government records. It shows no face gallery either.
What the Pages Organize
County resources here are grouped by the type of record a visitor needs.
- The home page combines recent booking feeds, the absent all-current roster result, booking fields, photo-request steps, Georgia law, state custody, court follow-up, and the county's city routes.
- Wanted Fugitives explains the Sheriff's limited SORT wanted-absconder list and safe warrant-check contacts.
- Arrest News maps official releases, local television and newspaper coverage, unofficial archives, and the path from a story to a court record.
- Savannah, Pooler, and Port Wentworth pages explain each police department's record route and how that city's arrestees appear in the CCSO booking system.
- Supporting notices describe privacy, terms, legal limits, and the distinction between this reference resource and the agencies it links.
What We Cannot Do
This site has no connection to the Chatham County Sheriff's Office, city police, the Georgia Department of Corrections, court clerks, or any other agency. It cannot do the following:
- release, transfer, or confirm a person in custody;
- post bond, arrange a visit, or send money;
- retrieve an official record on a reader's behalf;
- give legal advice or interpret a warrant;
- promise that an address, phone number, fee, or online result remains current.
Only the office that created a record can confirm current custody, a charge, a release, or whether a record exists at all. Take any detail that matters straight to that office.
Search-Partner Disclosure
Outside providers power some search boxes here. Pricing, data practices, and result rules belong to those providers. This reference has no say in them. If a visitor signs up for a paid service through a tool on the site, Chatham County Busted Mugshots may earn a referral fee. That fee supports the site. It buys no control over a partner's records, prices, or search results.
