Find Chatham County Busted Mugshots

Booking in Chatham County runs through the Chatham County Detention Center, where processing creates a record and a photograph even though the public feed displays text only. Those booking windows are short and rolling. Check them early with a full name and a booking date. Then ask which office holds the report, the photo, or the court file, and send the sheriff a records request with the same details for the photo. That route separates a county jail event from a later Georgia state prison record. That booking feed, backed by the records request, is the source of Chatham County busted mugshots, and the court file shows how the case ended.

Chatham County Busted Mugshots

A mugshot is taken at booking. The photo ties to a record with the arrest details, the agency, bond information, and the booked charge. Adults headed to the Chatham County Detention Center come from many places. Savannah, Pooler, Port Wentworth, county police, state patrol, the courts, and other agencies all send people there. Each office keeps its own paperwork. The arresting agency holds the incident report. CCSO holds the jail intake record. The court clerk tracks the case once it reaches the courtroom.

The 2025 inmate handbook lays out how booking works. It covers identification, classification, a medical check, fingerprinting, and a photograph. That is why a face can appear in a controlled jail record while the official 24-hour and 72-hour pages show only text. CCSO's community report counted 15,948 bookings in 2017 and 15,491 in 2018. Those figures cover past years, not a current annual total.

Think of the official short-window table as a booking-event record. It works well for matching a recent arrest. Still, it is not a full jail file or a court docket. Search with more than a name whenever you can. A date of birth, DIN, arrest number, agency, and arrest date help you tell apart people with similar names.

FieldWhat the Chatham entry shows
DIN and nameThe jail identifier and the person's full name as entered.
Date of birth, race, sexIdentity fields displayed on the feed. They should be checked against another official marker.
Arrest date and numberThe booking event date and the arrest number tied to that event.
AgencyThe committing or arresting agency associated with the entry, such as SAVANNAH PD or POOLER PD.
BondThe bond amount shown at intake. A $0.00 entry does not by itself explain a hold or release status.
Booked chargesCode, description, and an M or F grade may appear. These are intake charges.
Photo and outcomeNo photograph, release date, unit assignment, next court date, or disposition appears on the public feed.

Follow the case in the court record. Arraignment, motions, pleas, trial, dismissal, judgment, and sentencing all live there. A booking entry may not match the exact charge description the court ends up using.

Note: A DIN marks the jail record, an arrest number marks one event, and a court number marks the later case.

Request Chatham Busted Mugshots

Want a booking sheet or the original intake photo? File through the Chatham County JustFOIA portal. The CCSO contact directory lists Jail Records, corrections, booking, and media contacts. Keep your request narrow and truthful, and name a record that actually exists. Filling out the Sheriff's media form does not guarantee a photograph will be released.

Request detail

Include the full name, date of birth, DIN, arrest number, booking date, and arresting agency whenever you have them. Ask for the booking sheet and the original booking photograph as separate items.

  1. Identify the person and arrest episode with the strongest markers available.
  2. Ask CCSO for the existing booking or intake record through JustFOIA.
  3. For a photo, address the affirmation and restrictions in O.C.G.A. § 35-1-19 without misstating the intended use.
  4. Request the police incident report from the arresting city or county agency as a separate record.
  5. Expect a response within the Georgia Open Records Act framework. The agency may describe a timetable, estimate search or redaction costs, and cite an exemption.

No flat fee or fixed counter turnaround for CCSO booking photos has been published. Georgia's general copy baseline is not a promise your request will be free. The custodian can lawfully charge for search, retrieval, redaction, administrative work, copies, or media.

Georgia Busted Mugshot Law

Georgia's Open Records Act and the Attorney General's guidance lean toward access. Exemptions remain, though. Under O.C.G.A. § 35-1-19, an arresting agency faces limits on publishing booking photos online and on certain requests tied to web publication and paid removal. That rule explains why CCSO posts identifying text without a portrait. It does not make every Georgia booking photo a secret.

O.C.G.A. § 10-1-393.5(b.1) offers a no-fee statutory path for a qualifying person to seek removal from a commercial publisher. The request must follow the statute's required information and delivery method. The Georgia Attorney General consumer page is a good place to start. Skip any company promising a guaranteed deletion.

A few publishers run their own free routes. RecentlyBooked's policy covers removal review for dismissal, restriction or sealing, inaccuracies, wrong-person matches, juvenile status, duplicates, and outdated records. Mugshots.com describes free record maintenance for documented restriction, identity theft, death, or similar qualifying updates on its Chatham archive. No free process has been confirmed in writing for Arrests.org or The Georgia Gazette. No local Georgia-Chatham page exists for Busted Newspaper or Mugshots.zone. These are publisher policies, not promises that an image qualifies or comes down.

Check the State or Superior Court disposition before treating a booking charge as the final outcome.

Some material stays off limits. Juvenile, victim, medical, security-sensitive, sealed, and restricted records may be withheld or redacted. Record restriction under O.C.G.A. § 35-3-37 guidance from GBI can curb criminal-history dissemination without wiping out every agency or court record. Spotted a factual error in an official source? Ask the custodian for a correction. Search engines will refresh a result after the source changes, but they cannot delete the source page itself.

Find Chatham County Busted Mugshots

The best lookup depends on where the person is in the custody process. Someone just booked may show up in a rolling feed. A person released after booking may have dropped out of the current custody system, though the booking record itself is still obtainable. A person sentenced to state prison falls under GDC. Federal and immigration systems answer entirely different questions.

  1. Start with the official 24-hour booking page for the newest Chatham jail entries.
  2. Check the official 72-hour page if the event is older than one day.
  3. Use Jail Records or Receiving and Discharge/Booking for current custody because no public all-current roster was found.
  4. Request the booking sheet or photo from CCSO when the web feed has rolled off or lacks the needed field.
  5. Request the arrest narrative from the agency named in the feed, then use the correct Chatham court for disposition.
  6. Use GDC, BOP, or ICE only when the person's custody phase matches that system.

A short feed showing nothing proves little. The event may sit outside the window, get delayed or corrected, involve a citation rather than a jail booking, be protected, or belong to another custodian. If timing matters, save the URL and the date you accessed it.

Where Chatham Busted Mugshots Appear

Start with official sources. Each one holds a different record. The public county pages show text, not faces. A third-party site can still point you toward a discovery, but be careful with it. It may run late, duplicate entries, stay incomplete, or go stale. And an unofficial photograph never proves CCSO is displaying that image right now.

ChannelPhoto?Authority and access

CCSO 72-hour feedNoOfficial countywide event window; not a current-inmate roster.

The local media landscape is covered in Chatham arrest news. News images and aggregator images are republication choices, not a substitute for a custodian's record.

Chatham Busted Jail Roster Limits

The CCSO Corrections site has no single name-searchable roster of everyone in custody. What the public booking pages offer instead is a filterable, sortable table. It only reaches back over a short window of recent events. Treat it as a recent-activity view, not a durable person search. JailATM is a different animal entirely. It handles deposits and inmate communications for the jail, so don't mistake it for a public inmate list either.

Search or fieldWhat it means
NameUse exact spelling and check variants.
DOBUseful identity check when names match.
DINChatham jail identifier.
Arrest number and dateConnects the entry to a specific booking event.
AgencyShows which department or authority is tied to the entry.
Bond and chargesIntake-stage fields, not a release timestamp or court result.
  1. Open the 24-hour or 72-hour CCSO page and save the selected window.
  2. Filter by name, then compare DOB, agency, date, and arrest number.
  3. Read bond and charge lines as booking data, not a final judgment.
  4. Call Jail Records for a current-custody question because a recent release can remain in the window and a longer-held person can age out.

CCSO never states how often the booking pages refresh. Calling the feed "live" or "updated every few minutes" would overstate it. "Rolling 24-hour" or "rolling 72-hour" fits what the site actually shows. Release dates, unit assignments, court dates, and dispositions are all missing from the table.

The sheriff's official booking view reflects the county's text-first design and its own explanation of why photos are withheld. The screenshot that follows is just an interface reference. It is not a gallery of faces or a rehosted booking photo.

Chatham County official 24-hour booking feed interface

The table proves one narrow thing: a booking event was posted within the window shown. That is where its value ends.

Chatham County Busted Feed Windows

The 72-hour booking view is its own rolling window, not a weekly archive of everything filed. Both feeds list the same fields: DIN, name, date of birth, race, sex, arrest date, arrest number, arresting agency, bond, and booked charges. Faces are nowhere on either page. Also missing are release timestamps, unit locations, court dates, and final dispositions.

Past 24 hours
Newest public Chatham booking events. Coverage is short, text only, and does not guarantee current custody.
Past 72 hours
Events that are one to three days old. It remains a rolling event list with no verified longer archive.

One quirk is worth knowing. A calendar-day search made near midnight can straddle two dates. When an entry vanishes after three days, the event almost certainly aged out of the selected view rather than being erased from the record. CCSO publishes no official update cadence and no weekly booking log.

Note: The date shown in the feed is the arrest date, not a guaranteed web-post or release time.

The longer screenshot below captures the same text-first system across a wider span. If you cite a result, keep the source link together with the date you accessed it.

When the feed can't settle a current-custody question, go around it. Jail Records, Receiving and Discharge/Booking, or Georgia VINE each fit a different situation.

How Chatham Booking Starts

The CCSO handbook explains how booking works at the detention center. A person being processed answers identification and classification questions. Then comes a medical check, fingerprinting, and a photograph. None of that makes the photo public on the booking page. Release depends on the custodian, the request, the statute, and any exemption that applies.

The split in recordkeeping matters too. The arresting agency listed on the feed may hold the incident report while CCSO holds the jail record. A Savannah arrest can mean SPD has the narrative and CCSO has the intake file. Pooler, Port Wentworth, Chatham County Police, and the other agencies all work the same way.

Why Chatham Feeds Age Out

Chatham's public setup answers "who was recently booked?" It does not answer "who is locked up right now?" Someone can bond out and still sit in the feed until the event ages past the window. Flip it around, and a person held past 72 hours can drop off both pages while custody continues.

Want a real-time answer? Call Jail Records at 912-652-7734 or Receiving and Discharge/Booking at 912-651-3700. Georgia VINE handles notifications where the custody category fits. Either way, don't stretch a rolling booking list into a claim of complete present custody.

Savannah Alerts Are Not Rosters

Savannah's Public Safety App bundles a lot into one place. Think anonymous Eyes and Ears tips, photo and video uploads, press releases, and push notifications. You can also file online reports, track them, register a camera, reach 311, and check a community calendar. It is a communication tool, plain and simple. It will not search Chatham inmates or get around the county's photo policy.

The official CCSO site lists no inmate-photo or jail-information app. Its social channels do carry posts, but no booking-post cadence has ever been confirmed. So treat a tip, alert, or post as a lead. A lead gets checked against the official record.

Chatham Sentences and GDC Photos

The Georgia Department of Corrections Find an Offender locator covers a different phase entirely. It tracks the sentenced state-prison population. Search by name, physical description, GDC ID, or case number. If an expected prior record does not appear, GDC suggests trying the first four letters of a surname and setting the results to ALL. Keep this in mind: it is not a database of recent Chatham arrests.

When a profile includes a photo, it may load automatically. GDC acknowledges that some images have not been uploaded, and new ones arrive over time. A blank photo does not mean no photograph exists. For a specific existing record, use the GDC records route and come prepared with the GDC number and case details.

Records outside the locator go through the GDC open-records request portal. GDC promises an initial response within three business days. Nonmedical copies run $0.10 per page, though qualified search and redaction time may add a lawful charge. Central, institutional, security, investigation, and medical material can each carry confidentiality limits.

Read the custody label carefully. A GDC match is a sentenced state-prison offender, not someone just booked into the Chatham County Detention Center. The photo may be later, and the identifier different.

Chatham Busted Custody States

One name can move through several record systems on its way through the justice process. The tool that answers a recent-arrest question will rarely answer a current-custody or final-outcome question. Pick the system that matches the question.

Just booked
CCSO 24-hour feed, then the 72-hour feed. Text identifiers and booked charges may appear.
Possibly in county custody
Jail Records, Receiving and Discharge/Booking, or VINE. The rolling feeds do not certify this status.
Released after booking
The person can leave the short feed, while the booking sheet and photo may remain with CCSO subject to law.
Sentenced to state prison
GDC Find an Offender. This is a state-corrections record, not a county jail roster.
Federal or ICE custody
BOP or ICE locator according to custody type. These tools are not Chatham booking-photo databases.

Chatham Court Dispositions

State Court's Criminal Division handles misdemeanor and traffic matters from county jurisdictions. Its criminal records request form can seek an accusation, plea offer, warrant, sentence order, motion, citation, or full file. Simple copies are listed at $1, while one certified document is $2.50 plus $0.50 for each added page. Older off-site material may take up to five business days.

Indicted felonies continue through the Superior Court Clerk's Criminal Division, with online viewing routed through re:SearchGA. Court records may appear after a very recent booking and remain after the jail feed expires.

Match the booking to court with name, DOB, agency, arrest number, filing date, and case number. A missing case may reflect timing, spelling, jurisdiction, or a different record custodian. It is not proof of guilt or innocence.

Booking
The jail intake process that records identity, classification, a health review, and the arrest episode.
Arraignment
A court appearance where the case and charge are addressed at an early stage.
Bond
A court-set financial or release condition. The feed's amount does not explain every hold.
Disposition
The court outcome, such as dismissal, plea, verdict, or sentence.
Restriction
A legal limit on covered criminal-history dissemination. It does not automatically destroy every retained record.

Chatham Referral Totals

Every month and quarter, CCSO posts USCIS booking-referral totals sorted into categories. Those categories include referred, cleared, detained, and no response. The numbers exist for transparency. They carry no names and no photographs. So they cannot tell you anything about one person's booking.

That gap matters. A jail entry may list an agency or charge, but you cannot read immigration status, nationality, or a detainer into that line. Go to the named record custodian and follow the proper legal process instead.

Chatham Detention Center History

Chatham County's current Detention Center opened in 1988. It was expanded a year later, according to the CCSO Corrections overview. In 1993 it joined the newly opened Sheriff's Complex as an integrated facility. The layered history explains the naming you will run into. Older documents say "Chatham County Jail," while today's county pages lead with "Detention Center."

The 2017–2018 community report noted another local quirk. March was the busiest booking month in both years. The report tied the pattern to St. Patrick's Day crowds. Treat it as background, not a forecast for any given season.

Georgia Custody Alerts

Statewide Georgia VINE arrived in 2024 to send custody notifications for county jails. Phone, web, mobile, and multilingual options are all available. It is a status tool, though, not a mugshot archive, and it does not substitute for the official record.

Georgia OVS V.I.P. plays a different role, handling post-sentence corrections and parole details through a case number or GDC ID. Keep the three channels straight. County-jail VINE, GDC, and parole notifications each cover a separate custody or supervision event.

Why Chatham Feeds Show Text

CCSO's public booking page spells out the state's restriction on booking photos. It points qualifying requests toward open records. That creates a clean split. An official feed may list a name, date, agency, bond, and charge, but no face appears beside them.

Unofficial publishers such as RecentlyBooked sometimes display an image anyway. That tells you nothing about where the picture came from or whether it is still current. Request the source record through official channels, and turn to the court for outcomes. One more thing: never rehost a booking photo or build a gallery around people facing charges.

Federal and ICE Custody

Two federal tools sit apart from anything county-run. The Federal Bureau of Prisons locator tracks federal inmates back to 1982, listing identifiers, age, race, release date, and location, but no booking photo. The ICE online detainee locator covers people in current ICE custody plus some recently released, under its own search rules. Neither works as a county mugshot gallery.

Reach for the federal system only when a federal designation or immigration custody actually fits. CCSO's aggregate USCIS referral statistics name no one. And a federal or immigration result should never be guessed from a Chatham booking entry alone.

Chatham Busted Mugshots by City

The City Map covers three incorporated places: Savannah, Pooler, and Port Wentworth. None of them runs a verified daily municipal arrest or mugshot feed. Arrestees from all three go to the Chatham County Detention Center, where the county feed names the agency tied to each booking. Want the incident report? The city police department may still hold it.

  • Savannah Busted Mugshots routes SPD reports to Savannah's open-records system and jail intake to CCSO. Savannah's Public Safety App offers alerts and tips, not inmate lookup.
  • Pooler Busted Mugshots routes police reports to Pooler's records portal and county booking events to the CCSO feed, where entries appear as POOLER PD.
  • Port Wentworth Busted Mugshots pairs the CCSO booking path with PWPD's incident map and open-records form. The map has no named arrest roster.

Older booking records take a different path. Jail files and their intake data are usually kept for ten years after release. That rule comes from the local-government schedule. Georgia Archives schedules can point you to the right custodian. One caution: a page rolling off after 72 hours is not destruction. The file likely still exists somewhere. Ask CCSO Jail Records whether an old booking record sits with the county or has moved to archival custody.
